Navajo Book Cover Design
EMPOWERING BIPOC NARRATIVES THROUGH ILLUSTRATION
We embarked on a project inspired by the Navajo tale “The Bird of Many Songs,” discovered in a vintage magazine from the 90’s, driven by our love for creating unique art styles and our mission to amplify BIPOC voices through our work.
Guided by our passion for both artistic expression and diversity, we set out to create a captivating book cover that would not only bring the tale to life with vibrant visuals but also celebrate cultural richness and inclusivity.

THE PROCESS:
Beginning with sketches and digital illustrations, we meticulously crafted each element, infusing our artwork with vivid colors, intricate details, and a blend of illustration and graphic design that honored the story’s heritage. Sketches started across paper, evolving into digital illustrations that burst with color, texture, and personality.
We infused the landscape and characters with a sense of wonder and whimsy that mirrored the tale’s enchanting spirit. As the artwork took shape, we dived into the graphic design work, weaving together typography and layout to form the backbone of the book cover.
END RESULT:
Behold, the culmination of our creative endeavor–a vibrant and alluring book cover that breathes new life into an ancient tale. With its bold colors, dynamic composition, and unique artistic style, our creation stands as a testament to the power of storytelling and the boundless possibilities of design.
